In my travels around Mexico I have found some more car washes that I think you will learn something from. In Queretaro (about 600K pop.) about 2 hours NorthWest of Mexico City. The arches are a city trademark, build almost 300 years ago, bringing water from the mountains. Built by Marquéz de la Villa del Villar del Águila from 1726-1738. It has 74 arches stretching 9.45 miles, it was in use until 1944. There were 2 washes both built within the last 6-7 months. Spa-Auto has an Istobal, Spanish automatic and 4 detail bays. It is located at 102 Ave. Universidad, which is a good location. I didn't take any pictures of that one. It is owned by Ricardo Garcia and some partners.

The other is a self-serve with detailing. It is owned by the Juan De La Vega family. Since it is on a major street right under the arches, its called Aceducto AutoLavado. The equipment is European. One thing that they found out immediately is that Mexicans won't wash their own cars, so they hired people to use the equipment and wash the peoples cars. The cost is about $1 per 2.40 minutes, plus a tip for the washer. Because of the aquaduct they were not allowed to put up the lighted signage that was planned for the wash. The wash has not met expectations but new promotions are being planned.
