Kelly Deal
of Muddys in LoveLand, CO

And Pat Crowe presented her with one of his "How to Appraise
A Car Wash" Book

My presentation to Kelly at the ICA Show in San Antonio
1. What Did You Accomplish..
: Kelly acquired Muddys's in 2003. The previous owner
had run this site into the ground, all the stockholders (employees, vendors, customers)
were totally disgusted and had basically lost all faith in the
operation. Kelly in the one year of operation has trained and
retained a competent work force, sponsored over 12 charitable
events for the community, raised tens of thousands of dollars
for needy local causes, turned a loosing operation into a profitable
site, raised the revenue from less than $10 full service to
just under $20, tripled the volume, developed an inside sales
opportunity from less than $.15 to over $2, and groomed a management
team ready to move to two new locations (currently under contract).
Bottom line the turn around and acceptance by
a motivated inspired owner operator is a marvel to see. In all
the car washes I have seen over the years Kelly gets my vote
as one of the most inspirational turn around ever. She has done
a fantastic job that could only have been accomplished through
her love of the business and all Muddy's stockholders.
2.How did you do it :
She did it the old fashioned way, sweat and preseverance I think
Kelly would add that she had a lot of help from several vendors
and bankers who trusted and supported her through this year.
3.Major Obstacles :
The major obstacle was to establish trust and confidence in
so many that had been disappoint by the previous owner.
4.What Were the Results
: See the first paragraph
5.Goals for 2005 :
Kelly's goals for 2005 are to have opened two additional full
service facilities. Her vision is to provide "clean cars
quickly and safely in a clean, safe, place while providing employment
opportunities for many less skilled workers all the while being
an active engaged contributor to the communities she serves.
