Has any one done a proforma for a lube/car wash combo? I have a customer that wants to build this but wants to know what kind of return he can expect. No other car washes nearby an no other lube shops nearby. Located on a high traffic street. Any help would be appreciated.

Great question and I would like to know as well. I would suggest you treat them as two distinct entities as most oil change customers will get a wash, but not all wash customers will get an oil change. Understand what the wash can do and market it. Oil Changes would be based more on a demographic I would think than traffic count for the wash (assuming tunnel?)

Profit and loss factors for lube/carwash are readily available in print and on the www. Benchmarks are published by PC&D, ALN, NOLN, NPN, ICA, etc.

Most lube reps have OEM designed single site analysis "checklist" that can be used to prepare the sales forecast for the pro forma. The rep should also have a generic pro forma for lube.

Of course, you have to figure checklist + generic = average
