I posted in March that a black man, a white man and his mom were arrested for attacking my autocashier. Did no damage and got no money - thank God.

Mom was released almost immediately, white man (her son) got 9 months in county jail for possession of burglary tools and the black guy (who was really the look out) got 9 months for tresspassing.

Finally, a conviction!!

Is a bump key considered a burglary tool under the law?
Absolutely. Even a screwdriver carried during the commission of a crime or if you're arrested as an accomplice of a burglary becomes a burglary tool.

Is it illegal to own or possess a bump key, or just to have it on you if you are commiting a crime? (Please avoid saying, "Why would you own one if you don't intend to break the law?" as this would not answer my question.)

depends on the state, I don't believe owning a bump key is illegal. but operating a bump key most definitely is. unless you own the property on which the bump key is used.I carry a pocket knife, legal to have in possession not legal to use towards others. Just my opinion.
