Water softener

Water softener swarmed while we were at the show in Vegas. The medium escaped & filled just about everything that uses water. The filters on the hp pumps filled up & was starving the pumps, many of the solenoid valves were plugged, etc. You get the picture!
My question is----Would you try to repair the thirteen year old softener or bite the bullet & purchase new one's? If new one's are in order, what brand do you prefer?

If yours is a Fleck system, they're fairly easy and inexpensive to repair if you can do it yourself. If you can't, get an estimate first to make sure you won't be spending as much to fix an old one as it will cost to replace. A lot of softener companies charge too much for softener repair.

Chances are your problem is a simple one. There's usually a plastic tube and strainer in the tank that lets the water flow down through the resin and then back up to the equipment. The strainer may have collapsed or the pipe may have split.
